About Us
One of our peer workers talks about her experiences of the sex industry and the work we do
Specialists
You My Sister was set up with survivors of abuse (alongside mental health professionals and others) who now play a leading role in creating and delivering our mental health support. This means lived experts are at our core and are constantly shaping our work and our vision.
Our support has been described as ‘life saving’ more than once and is highly valued by other services. And because we operate online, we can support women across the UK .. and beyond.
Why it Works
We use the ‘Recovery College’ Model – globally acclaimed as a high impact form of mental health self help.
We run short courses in small groups, created and run with trainers with lived experiences The courses help students to understand the mental health issues they face and find the tools that work for them to help take back control. The process is based on self realisation and, in effect, retraining the brain into more positive patterns.
Empowering .. Supportive .. Positive .. non-judgemental .. Definitely no ‘chalk and talk’!
